Photo(s) of the week: Snow & Golden Sunset

Last week’s sunset photo of the week kinda sucked, so this week I’m giving you two photos (mainly because I couldn’t decide which one I like the most).

I spent like 4 hours walking around in -8*C degrees (17*F) shooting with the Nikon D7000, which by the way, did quite well. Over 200 photos during 4 hours in freezing weather and it used only around 15% of the EN-EL15 battery, that’s not bad at all.

So, the first photo below was shot during a very golden sunset next to a frozen lake. I believe you call this kind of plant for “reeds” but I’m not sure. Doesn’t matter. When I saw how that golden light was hitting the reeds (?), I just had to take a backlit photograph of it. This was the best I could do.

The second photo is a building located on top of one of the highest points in the country where I’m currently on vacation for the Christmas holidays (in Scandinavia). It was begging for a black & white conversion, so I gave it one and I like how it turned out. Added a little bit of vignette as well.
